About The Author
Jim Moe
The author, the third oldest of seven children, has devoted much of his life to faith, family, and service. He served as a priest for 14 years and was married for 21 years before his wife passed away in 2007 after a three-year battle with cancer. He also spent 25 years working for Child and Family Services for the State of Montana. For his first seven years, he served as a social worker handling referrals involving child abuse and neglect, and for the following 18 years, he supervised five social workers serving vulnerable children and families.
After retiring, he walked the Camino in 2016, an experience that offered him a meaningful time of reflection and spiritual renewal. Today, he enjoys gardening, cross-country skiing, fishing, and walking his dog. Retirement, however, has not ended his commitment to serving others.
About Mary Ann
Mary Ann is Jim younger sister and companion on the Camino. She was a companion = “bread with” in every sense of the word. She added to the physical, spiritual, emotional, intelectual, and social dimension of thje Camino.
Being from Texas and closer to sea level, the mountains and elevation of the Camino was a much greater challenge, but she was persistent, and and awesome inspiration. She provided reflection, support, and depth to the Pilgrimage and encounter with others.
Events and enriched perspective: Each day on the Camino provide new surprises, challenges and encounters. There were people from all over the world, and all levels of faith, and even some with little or no faith. Listening, sharing, walking and talking with those many different people and their joys and sorrows is one of the great treasures and enriching experiences of the Camino. We are all pilgrims together. We learn and grow, are challenged and healed together. All of life is a pilgrimage and those we meet along the way are important instuments of God’s blessing for us.
About The Book
Pilgrimage
The Inner Journey to God
Every human heart is on a pilgrimage seeking a spiritual connection, a divine encounter, or an epiphany that helps us make sense of it all. Walking the five-hundred-mile pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago with my sister, I found Santiago was not only a destination but also a humble attitude of mind.
Santiago is being open to God and his grace in nature, in the struggles and challenges of our heart, in the surprises of the path, and the encounters with other pilgrims.
